When Tim Ferriss Asked Me What Podcasts I Listen To

What Podcasts to listen to

First off, I can barely remember words making their way out of my mouth when I met Tim Ferriss. I vividly remember two things: I shook his hand for a loooong time, and he had a big, genuine smile. The rest is a blur, but here goes.

I attended the SXSW Conference in Austin last March 2017. I had no idea he would be attending, or let alone record a live podcast interview on stage! As much as I feel like I know Tim, I don’t know why I was shocked to see him there since he has such a history attending and launching his books at SXSW.

Fast forward to his live streaming podcast I attended. He interviewed author Cheryl Strayed. Great interview, as I like her too and loved her book turned movie Wild… I actually read it in Ashland, where she hiked through during her final stretch. After the podcast interview, which I left 5min early, I booked it to the mini bookstore set-up outside the conference room. Apparently, I was not the only one with the smart idea to get in line early as there were about 120 people ahead of me.

I ended up meeting a really cool super-fan—we got along splendidly. We shared books we’ve recently read, hobbies, what we love about Tim… I’m shocked we both didn’t get a tattoo of Tim’s face on our backs that night. I digress.

The time comes when I’m next in line. Oh boy, I’m shaking like a leaf in autumn. I approach Tim with an abnormally large grin, then thanked him for inspiring me to pick up journaling and craft a morning routine. He smiles. I then tell him how I had so many podcasts on my list, but eventually dwindled it down to a few, and he’s my top!

He then smiled and asked, “what are the other podcasts?” I FROZE. Someone might as well have chopped off my tongue and deleted my memory. I went blank. Duuuuh. I remembered absolutely nothing. So, that brings me to… my favorite podcasts!

Wow, Dirk, that’s commitment! I was around that many hours for about a year then slowly backed down to an hour a day. I typically listen to them when getting ready in the, heading to work, and the rare times I cook at home. Podcasts have made me love road trips now too, it’s the perfect time to catch up! Thanks for these recommendations. I’ve listened to a few 99% episodes – I’ll check some of these out!
