Halloween used to be my favorite day. I love getting dressed up and getting a bunch a friends together before going out and terrorizing the streets, but this year I’m kinda blah about it.
I’ve spent Halloween on Miami’s Lincoln Road, Coconut Grove, Bourbon Street and Boulder’s Pearl Street. Many a beverages were consumed and funny pictures were taken. This doesn’t mean that I won’t celebrate it next year. I’m sure I will—when I get dressed up I get really into it. Just for now I’m staying in and below are my reasons.
10 reasons why I’m staying in on Halloween:
- it’s raining
- it’s so cold that I can feel it in my bones
- I’m not in the mood to drink (and come on, what’s Halloween without some potent punch?)
- I’ve experienced so many Halloweens in which I may never top (oh, youth)
- I want to bake my first banana bread
- my husband’s sick
- I want to finish our ‘House’ marathon (it might be Lupus this time!)
- I’m too lazy to find the one costume that I brought to Italy (sexy maid, boring)
- I’ve been a witch too many times to count (before the age of 12, not my fault)
- I want to wake up early tomorrow
Past costumes:
- witch
- Raggedy Ann
- housewife with face cream and slippers
- Fifth Element stewardess (one of my favorites)
- Paris Hilton’s bodyguard
- hula dancer (another favorite, although the coconuts did pop off while dancing on a couch at Rokbar nightclub in South Beach. Luckily, I caught them before they completely feel off.)
- New Orleans woman of the night (college days)
- baby
Bucketlist costumes:
- gaper snowboarder
- break dancer
- soldier
- Travelocity gnome
- American tourist
- Italian tourist
- Fanfani medical administrator
So, what are your scary plans tonight? Any costume that I can add to my Bucketlist?

I like the nurse. *cough* *cough* #sick
Good reasons! Living in a big city, I often feel too cozy to go out. I’m just going to get some tapas tonight with a friend. Much better than drinking 10 euro drinks in a club!
I have to say…The flamenco dancer is top notch!
Nicco, I hear you loud and clear!
Kaley, hope you had fun and enjoyed those tapas, que rico! Agreed, € 10 for a crappy drink is not worth it, especially when the music stinks.
Talia, thanks! That was a fun night. Nicco played guitar all night on Bourbon street while I carried his bottle of tequila. College days were the best!
